BACON and the Benefits of Boredom

Life can often seem tedious and uneventful, and it’s easy to get caught up in the same old routine day after day. But boredom is beneficial; or at least, it can be.

Boredom usually refers to trying and failing to find stimulation. But sometimes it can lead to just giving up. If we view this “failing to find stimulation” as a learning experience we can use boredom to become more productive, creative, and self-aware. If we identify that boredom is leading to great despair or a longing to quit, we can consider this the first steps toward turning it around.
