There are many reasons why we hate to say, “NO.” It probably started with our parents teaching us to show others respect. And as we grew and made friends of our own, we realized the need for reciprocity.
Now between guilt and desire for advancement over the go-getters, we find that it is harder and harder to decline a request.
Here are some of the reasons we can’t say NO!
B – Busy Being Benevolent!
A – Anxious about Appearances!
C – Can’t cause Conflict!
O - Others offer opportunities!
N – Need Not Negate!
It is important to pass on an appeal if you feel uncomfortable or the request violates your morality. Learn to say NO if you don’t have the time, are being pushed to conform, or you are doing it just to please someone.
Saying NO will help you build self-confidence and focus. Saying NO actually strengthens relationships and prevents burnout.
Here’s how to be GREAT at saying NO!
G – Be Grateful
R – Be Respectful
