As we get closer to the end of the year, we start thinking about the things that we are grateful for and people less fortunate than us. We all know of people in need, and we all have something to give; money, possessions, time, or talent to name a few.
When we concentrate on those that have more than us, we tend to feel cheated. And we may let desire turn to greed, then to anger.
Charity is a Win-Win. Not only are we helping others but the act of giving benefits us as well. Giving makes us happier. You get the “Helper’s High” from a boost of endorphins and oxytocin when you help others.
Here are some other benefits of Charity…
B – Butterfly Effect. Every little bit can make a difference. And each act of kindness can turn into something contagious, and spreads further than we’ll ever know.
A – Affects the lives of others. Acts of charity give dignity and hope to those less fortunate. It demonstrates the good in people and can turn lives around.
C – Creates a change. Giving to some charities can help create a better society, one that we can be proud to be part of.
O – Often a Tax Benefit. If you are looking for an additional personal benefit. Donations to most charities are tax deductible.
N – Natural thing to do. Since we were babies, we have sought out and asked for help. It is natural to want to give back.
Happiness will be found when we stop focusing on where the grass is greener and start planting flowers where the ground is bare. - MasterHappiness
