Adopt, Adapt, Adept - The 3-Step Plan for Success in Change

Change - a constant source of anxiety for many. Whether it’s a new job, a promotion, or a shift in company policy, change can be overwhelming, especially when you’re not prepared for it. In a world where adaptability is key, being set in your ways is an easy way to fall behind. But change doesn’t have to be daunting, it can actually be an opportunity for growth. Embrace the 3-step plan for success in change: Adopt, Adapt, and Adept.

Adopt, Adapt, Adept - Master Happiness with Marty Jalove

Adopt: The first step in our plan is to adopt new procedures and processes. It’s crucial to have an open mind and not resist the changes that come your way. You may be tempted to initiate change immediately, but it’s important to remember that this phase is about learning. Ask questions to clarify your understanding, not to push your own agenda. By adopting a new mindset, you can see the benefits of the change, and work with it rather than against it.

Adapt: Once you’ve adopted this new mindset, it’s time to adapt your work style to fit the new processes. You may find yourself pointing out flaws or inefficiencies but try to remember that you might not see the big picture. Don’t judge the change, just focus on your own growth. Use this as a chance to work on yourself, learn new skills, and develop as a professional. This is a great opportunity to increase your value and expertise in the company.

Adept: The final step is to become an adept member of the team. Once you have mastered your job and become an integral member of the organization, you have earned the right to suggest improvements. However, when you do suggest change, it should be based on knowledge and understanding, not just assumptions. Use what you have learned to suggest more efficient ways of operating. Remember, it’s always about the company’s goals, not your personal biases.

Change can be tough, but it’s a necessary part of professional and personal development. By following these three steps of Adopt, Adapt, and Adept, you can thrive in any new environment. Remember, change is the only constant in life, so it’s time to embrace it. Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself, try new things, and grow. You’ve got this!
